Culver Families,
We are nearing the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. We hope the students are as excited as the staff for the opening day of school. Remember school begins for grades 1-8 on Wednesday, August 22nd at 8:00 am. The first full day for preschool and kindergarten students is Friday, August 24th. For those dropping off and picking up students by car, please drop students off at door #3, near the playground, not the main entrance. Please allow extra time for drop off and pick up during the first couple weeks of school.
We would like to take this opportunity welcome you all to the Culver Community. We feel grateful to work in a warm, student-centered community of excellence. We look forward to continuing our partnership as we work toward academic, social, and emotional success for our students.
Students are surely anxiously awaiting their class/schedule information. We are currently completing the scheduling of our returning students as well as the more than 30 new students who are joining our Culver family. PowerSchool will be open and available to you on Thursday, August 16th. The class lists by homerooms will be available to view on the front office doors on Thursday, August 16th.
For those families who purchased supplies from Schoolkidz, if you have not been able to pick them up, they are at school and will be delivered to the student’s homeroom. These will be waiting for the students on the first day. Hopefully, this saves some time and energy for you.
Hot lunch is available the first day of school. Students can bring or purchase lunch. Please do not send food with your student that contains peanuts or tree nuts for the safety of our students.
On behalf of the Culver PTA, your are invited you to the “Back to School Bash” on August 24th from 5:30-7:30 pm. We hope you will join us for sweet treats and plenty of fun activities. This is a great time to reconnect as a Culver Community.
On Wednesday, August 22nd, the first school day, students can enter the building at 7:50. Grades 1-5 will report to the gym. Students in grades 6-8 will head to the cafeteria. Staff will be present to help students reach their school destination.
The start of the school year is such an exciting time - getting school supplies ready, picking out that first day outfit, talking with friends about classes, packing lunch, and being so excited...it can be hard to get to bed. At Culver, we are just as excited as your children; we cannot wait to build lasting bonds with them and learn all about them as the school year progresses. Theodore Roosevelt stated, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” As we start this new school year together, let’s start with belief in ourselves. The possibilities are endless.
We hope you enjoy the final days of summer relaxing with your family. Please feel free to contact the school at 847-966-9280 with any questions.
Kindly,
Oscar Suarez, Assistant Principal
Laura Guaraci, Director of Student Services
Erica Smolinski, Principal
